Once upon a time...

wait, wait, WAIT.

This is no once-upon-a-time fairytale.  It's a modern-day monarchy full of trials, troubles, and angry mobs of people who DON'T LIKE PIDGEONS!

I suppose you need a bit of backstory before we can get to the frontstory.

The United States of America decided it was tired of democracy.  So it became a monacracy that is when it is mostly a democracy, but partially a monarchy.  Each state needed to transform one of their counties into a monarchy.  Complete with kings and queens and castles.  As well as trading routes, diplomacy and angry mobs of people caused by democracy, trading routes, and pigeons.  You're probably wondering what the heck is with the pigeons.

Now for the frontstory:

Amelia was a princess.  Not just any princess, but the princess of the kingdom of essex.  The 5th princess to be exact.  She took all the same princessing lessons as the 1st through 4th princesses (her sisters) and she got better grades than all of them combined.  However, no matter how many queenly manners tests she aced, as soon as she left the classroom the lessons fell away to reveal her overly spunky, fresh personality.

When Amelia was 13 her parents died.

Now any one of her siblings could have been queen, but she was placed on the throne.  She didn't feel worthy, however, and refused to change her title from princess to queen.  She was afraid.  She aced the tests, but those were nothing compared to the real thing.  Amelia was sure she would mess up.

For one whole year she did well, however one day she fell asleep during an overly boring trade meeting.  Half asleep, when asked what should be imported from new yorkingdom, she responded with 'chartreuse.' Now, they needed technology.  The 1000 bowls of clam chowder they exported each week could get them 3 computers and 7 cell phones from new yorkingdom.  However, the only chartreuse thing in this kingdom was pigeons.  So until the next trade modifications meeting, essex was importing about 500 pigeons a week.

And god knows that nobody wants more pigeons.

Sure that she would be mobbed by her citizens, Amelia fled the kingdom with her scullery maid, her cook, one guard and her horseback teacher.  Her closest friends.  To this day she 15, going on 16, and is living in the woods nearby Ratsingkin elementary school.
